The fine red veins that appear just beneath the surface of your skin, are commonly known as spider or thread veins, and are, essentially, broken and enlarged blood vessels. They can appear on the face, legs or anywhere on the body. Red veins are not dangerous but can look unattractive, especially in areas where the skin is visible and can be a nuisance to cover up, even with the thickest make up.

There are several reasons why you may be noticing the appearance of red veins -

The LUMINA laser emits a specifically-chosen wavelength of light energy in very short pulses on to the red vein. This light is absorbed by the vessel, causing it to coagulate. The remaining vein is then broken down, naturally, by the body. The surrounding tissues remain unharmed and unmarked, therefore there is very little-to-no downtime or side-effects from this treatment.
