Health concerns that can be checked with a blood test are categorised in to three types of blood test.

Anyone can request a blood test for a range of reasons. Before we offer this however, we will conduct a no obligation consultation and medical history check. This initial meeting with Dr Ahmed will give you the opportunity to discuss any health or wellbeing concerns or symptoms, as well as discussing any medication you are currently taking and any illnesses you have struggled with in the past. This will give Dr Ahmed some information on your general health, previous conditions and may allow insight in to other tests that can be done, prior to a blood test. Once you have had your initial consultation, and Dr Ahmed is happy to offer a blood test, you can go ahead.
Having a blood test with Dr Ahmed is exactly like having one at your GP surgery. You will be asked to sit comfortably with your arm resting on a pillow or cushion. Dr Ahmed will clean the area and if a vein is not easily found, he may put a torniquet around your bicep, to help find a suitable vein to extract the blood from. He will then warn you that a light scratch may be felt in your arm and will insert a needle. Dr Ahmed will then extract one to several vials of your blood, depending on the tests that your blood will be required for. Once this is done, he will dress the area with a small piece of cotton wool and a small round plaster. This can be removed after 30 minutes or so. Once this is done, you are free to return to your daily activities
The results are usually obtained from the lab within a week and we will contact you to let you know when they are available. You may wish to book a second appointment with Dr Ahmed to discuss these results and subsequent treatment options, should any be required.
