Lines and Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles are natural signs of ageing that appear on the skin’s surface over time.

They are the result of various factors, including the gradual loss of collagen and elastin fibres, reduced oil production, and environmental influences.

Dynamic wrinkles are caused by repeated facial movements, such as smiling, frowning, or squinting. Over time, these movements tire the muscles and create creases in the skin. Common dynamic wrinkles include crow’s feet around the eyes, forehead lines, and smile lines around the mouth.

Static wrinkles, on the other hand, develop due to the loss of collagen and elasticity. This usually starts when we’re in our 20’s and occurs at a rate of 1-1.5% each year, with the effects taking several years to become noticeable. When developed, these wrinkles are visible even when the face is at rest, forming in areas where the skin is thinner, such as the cheeks and neck.

Extrinsic factors like sun exposure, smoking, and pollution can accelerate the ageing process, leading to premature lines and wrinkles. UV rays from the sun, in particular, contribute to collagen breakdown and elastin fibre damage, resulting in sagging skin and deep wrinkles. Bank Medispa takes an individual approach to treating lines and wrinkles, with the creation smoother, brighter skin being the end goal. At our clinic there are various treatments available, depending on the type of wrinkles, and how pronounced they are.

Our trained therapists may recommend topical treatments to help improve skin texture by optimising skin health. We often combine this with our anti-wrinkle treatment and / or dermal fillers for dynamic wrinkles. Whereas for pronounced static wrinkles, procedures such as: microneedling, injectable skin boosters, radiofrequency, laser therapy and chemical peels can be effective; helping to replenish skin cells and rebuild the inner structure.
