Double Chin / Tech Neck

A double chin, also known as submental fat, is an excess of fat beneath the chin that creates a noticeable fold or fullness. In some cases, this concern is associated with a weak jawline / receding chin, when more of the skin around the neck is being exposed. Depending on the cause, this concern can also be referred to as ‘tech neck’, a nick-name that’s become relevant as the use of technical devices increases.

A double chin, or submental fat, can be caused by several factors. Genetics, weight gain, and ageing can lead to a buildup of excess fat under the chin.
