Thin Lips and Lip Lines

Thin lips refer to lips that have a relatively less prominent and full appearance due to a lack of volume. This can be a result of a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors such as genetics, ageing, repeated facial movements, or a combination of these factors. Lip lines, also known as perioral lines or ‘smoker’s lines’, are fine wrinkles that form on and around the lips, particularly on the upper lip.

The appearance of thin lips and lip lines can significantly impact facial aesthetics. Fuller, well-defined lips are often associated with a youthful and attractive look. Conversely, thin lips and pronounced lip lines may give the impression of ageing or contribute to an overall less vibrant appearance. Lip lines, in particular, can be a source of self-consciousness for some individuals. Applying a treatment that creates volume and restores a youthful dewy look can help to balance the features and lift one’s confidence.

As people age, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases, leading to a loss of elasticity and volume. This is particularly noticeable in areas with thinner skin, such as the lips. Additionally, repeated movements from activities like talking, smoking, or drinking through straws can contribute to the formation of lip lines over time. Sun exposure accelerates these effects by breaking down collagen and causing further damage to the skin’s structure.

At Bank Medispa we address thin lips and lip lines with our lip filler treatment. We administer lip filler through a precise and personalised approach, based on the patient’s aesthetic goals along with the lip’s natural shape and structure. We apply an appropriate amount of hyaluronic acid-based filler to achieve a level of volume that achieves natural looking enhancement and contouring. We pay careful attention to symmetry and balance, ensuring the lips complement the patient’s facial features while enhancing overall aesthetic harmony.
